Bedgebury offering quality genetics at Chelford sale
At the forthcoming Society sale in Chelford in March, we will be offering two excellent pedigree females from the Bedgebury herd along with a commercial show potential calf.
The first of the heifers is the March 2010-born heifer Bedgebury Futie. This is an exceptionally well grown, correct, black and white heifer by the proven sire Bluegrass Cyclone out of Ridge Dean Auntie, a correct and striking black and white daughter of Daffyd D’Ochain out of the Ridge Dean Jessie daughter Ridge Dean Victoria. Futie has a carcass yield index of +14 (top 20%) and a pedigree breeding index of +13 (top 10%).
We think a lot about this heifer and she has had some pretty pleasing comments from fellow breeders who have seen her. In 2011 she stood reserve interbreed champion at Heathfield Show, interbreed junior heifer champion at East of England and second prize yearling heifer at Edenbridge and Oxted Show.
The other pedigree heifer to be offered is the June 2011-born Bedgebury Glamorous. This is a daughter of the noted sire Bringlee Carlos, a bull that has bred exceptionally well in the Cromwell herd, and is out of the Gitan daughter Justince Du P’Tit Mayeur. Glamorous lives up to her name and will make a great addition to anyone’s 2012 show team.
The commercial heifer is a striking black and white heifer by Bluegrass Cyclone and is full sister to last year’s top priced heifer at the Chelford sale, who sold to Christine Williams and Paul Tippets for £2850.
