At just 12 months old, Bedgebury Fancy Pants certainly lived up to her name at Edenbridge and Oxted Show at the end of August as she was placed first in a tough yearling heifer class and then went on to be female champion and reserve breed champion under judge Michelle Wilde. On the second day of judging she then went on to take the female interbreed title and overall interbreed champion under judge Harry Emslie. Mr Emslie said: “This heifer has great growth for age, bags of style and on the day, was an animal I would have happily taken home with me.” Fancy Pants is an ET-bred daughter of Ballygrange Alex out of Wilodge Cover Girl.
Also in the breed classes, our yearling heifer Bedgebury Futie, by Bluegrass Cyclone out of Ridge Dean Auntie stood second to Fancy Pants in the yearling heifer class while our yearling bull Bedgebury Flat Out ET who is a full brother to Fancy Pants won his class and then went on to be placed reserve male champion.
This is our last show of the season with the next stop being Carlisle where we will be offering Bedgebury Futie for sale and a number of embryos. For more information on those see our for sale page.

Although our team was incredibly young for this year’s royal Welsh, we were very pleased indeed with how they fared against some of the finest Blues in the UK.
Our August 2010-born yearling bull Bedgebury Flat Out ET stood third in a strong class of eight bulls. By Ballygrange Alex out of Wilodge Cover Girl, he is growing in to a great young bull with good locomotion and natural muscling. Our yearling heifer, the other baby of the team, Bedgebury Fancy Pants, who is full ET sister to Flat Out stood a very respectable fifth place in a class of 20 heifers, of which she was one of the youngest in the class.
All being well our next show outing will be Edenbridge and Oxted at the end of the month.

We were incredibly delighted with our success at last weeks East of England Show where we took top place tickets with all our stock in both the breed classes and the Continental classes on the last day of the show.
Kicking off proceedings in the breed classes for us was our senior cow Ridge Dean Auntie ET (by Dafydd D'Ochain out of Ridge Dean Victoria), she won the cow class and then went on to be reserve female champion under judge Graham Brindley of the Bringlee herd.
Our yearling bull Bedgebury Flat Out ET (by Ballygrange Alex out of Wilodge Cover Girl) stood second in his class and also reserve junior male champion, while in a tough yearling heifer class we stood at the top of the line with Bedgebury Futie (by Bluegrass Cyclone out of Ridge Dean Auntie ET) and second with Bedgebury Fancy Pants ET (by Ballygrange Alex out of Wilodge Cover Girl). Futie then went on to take the junior heifer championship followed by Fancy Pants who stood reserve junior heifer champion.

In the interbreed junior championship Limousin breeder William Smith of the Milbrook herd then tapped Futie out to be interbreed junior heifer champion, while on the last day fellow Blue breeder Andy Ryder placed Fancy Pants first in the the Continental yearling heifer class before placing her reserve overall Continental champion.
Our next show will be the Royal Welsh, we look forward to seeing you there.

Our first show of the season kicked off with great success as we stood first, female any other breed champion and reserve overall any other breed champion with the yearling heifer Bedgebury Futie, a daughter of Bluegrass Cyclone out of Ridge Dean Auntie. Futie then went on to be placed interbreed female champion as well as reserve overall interbreed.
In the class judging we also stood second with Bedgebury Fancy Pants, an ET-bred heifer by Ballygrange Alex out of Wilodge cover Girl, while her full ET brother Bedgebury Flat Out won his class and stood reserve male any other breed champion behind the show’s overall interbreed champion. Our next show will be the East of England Show.

Having been admired by many who have seen her, we were delighted to take our British blue x Limousin x heifer to Chelford this month where she was placed crossbred heifer champion and reserve overall champion under judge Louise Todd. By Bluegrass Clyclone, she is out of a Blue x Limousin cow that was bought as a calf at Chelford and had a great show career with us on the south east circuit. In the sale she attracted great interest and was finally knocked down at the day’s highest price of £2850 to Shifnal, Shropshire-based Christine Williams and Paul Tippetts, who plan to show her this summer before retaining her in their commercial herd.

Having made the long trip up to Borderway Mart, Carlisle with our first homebred bull Bedgebury Dizzy Rascal, a son of the great Wilodge Ulex out of Wilodge Uptown Girl, we were delighted to stand first in a very tough intermediate class. The next day we were more than happy to sell Dizzy for 10,000gns to commercial and pedigree breeders Messrs Teasdale, Co Durham. We would like to wish the Teasdale family the very best with Dizzy and look forward to seeing calves on the ground by him.

We took two pedigree heifers and a commercial show potential steer calf to this month’s official Society Sale at Chelford and are pleased to report all three animals sold incredibly well.
The highlight of the sale for us was selling our seven month old Limousin x British Blue x steer calf for £1600. By Burnbank Arnie he sold to W Smith, Leek, who will be showing him on the summer circuit this year. Of the heifers, our first sale was Bedgebury Davina, a March 2008, tall black and white heifer by Bringlee Volkawagon out of the herd’s first pedigree purchased Ridge Dean Auntie. She sold for 2250gns to J and S Wood, Livestock Exporters, Redditch. Our next was the May 2009 born heifer Bedgebury Echo. By Empire D’Ochain, she is out of Wold Newton Tabasco and sold for 1500gns to R Leedham, Desford. We would like to wish all three purchasers the very best with their animals.

This was our last show of the season and it’s safe to say we went out on a high as Wilodge cover Girl took the overall British Blue championship under judge Mike Dickens, Milton Keynes. Cover Girl took the female championship and then went on to take the breed championship. Our other entry at the show Bedgebury Dizzy Rascal stood second in his class and then went on to take the reserve male championship.
